So I heard that its recommended to reinstall windows if you have a new mobo. I want to build a new computer and was wondering when upgraiding can I just install windows 10 on the new mobo and not worry about any problems? I have windows 8,1.

Your probably gonna have to have windows 10 already installed before you go to the new mobo. I am not sure if changing the mobo will require windows reactivation though.

My suggestion is to install windows 10 using the media creation tool on your new mobo PC from a USB.

Windows 10 upgrade is tied to the motherboard!

  1. Upgrade the computer motherboard first
  2. Reinstall Windows 8 & activate (via phone-call to MS if needed)
  3. THEN upgrade to Windows 10!

That way, your Windows 10 will be tied to the new board, and not the old one.

MS will NOT activate a "freely upgraded" version of Windows 10 on a new board! (Phone-call or not.)
