Hello, I am planning on building a pc from the ground up and I've been trying to find internal bluray optical drives that have windows 7 through 10 compatibility. Can anyone recommend one? I have not been able to find a windows 10 compatible bluray optical drive.

I'm pretty sure DVD drives aren't limited to OS, you could use an IDE drive if you wanted to

but why do you need an optical drive?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

While looking at optical drive I had noticed "supported OS", and when I looked into it many people who upgraded to Windows 10 their optical drives were no longer recognized. I have been looking into a bluray optical drive for many of the bluray DVDs I own to allow this build double as an entertainment system, as well as being able to use some of the CDs I already own.

I don't know if it's better now but you can't just natively read bluray discs like DVDs, they're probably referring to the included software or something on the drive

I don't know if the free software is better now either, but you had to pay for/"find" software before to play blu rays on a PC

Really you're probably better off just getting a bluray player, they're pretty cheap now

I see where you are coming from. I'll just have to do that.

As far as the OS goes, do you believe Windows 10 to be good enough to use in a gaming/editing rig? If not what is your preferred?

Depends on how much you like having your data collected, also there might still be some issues in windows 10 with GPU drivers
