Interesting, reliable PSU, nice board, and I think the CPU is more than enough.

yeah, i wanted quality above all. thisi is just a basic pc to store security footage for his bar

6 TB should be enough for days of footage at 360p~480p 24  FPS

You'll still have issues if that drive breaks, you will still need another backup ( with every setup even raid )

I would recommend a HGST drive ( if the files are important ) they have lower failure rates but cost more.

sorry but i love the reliability of WD RED pros, cause of the long warranty. the files on the drive arent completely MISSION CRITICAL so i might stay with WD but i will look into hgst, thank you!

Get an H81 board, H97 is overkill for this build, I recommend the MSI H81M-E34. It's a great board

They still have an 6% annual failure rate in a datacenter environment according to blackblaze: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-reliability-q3-2015/

Hey, guys, im trying to build a storage pc for my unce on a budget of $450. it doesnt need to be powerful at all, just needs to have plenty of QUALITY storage.i already have ram, so no need to

Well what you'll want is HGST drives

and you should really be going for ECC memory, if not get an AM1 build due to how low cost and low power the chips are

the case supposedly supports 3 3.5" drives and the motherboard supports up to 4 drives natively, spend the extra money on a battery back up

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rzB6GX

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rzB6GX/by_merchant/

CPU: AMD 5350 2.05Ghz Quad-Core Processor  ($49.98 @ Newegg)

Motherboard: ASRock AM1B-ITX Mini ITX AM1 Motherboard  ($34.99 @ Micro Center)

Memory: Crucial 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($34.97 @ OutletPC)

Storage: Hitachi Deskstar NAS 4TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($159.99 @ B&H)

Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case  ($39.99 @ Newegg)

Power Supply: SeaSonic 300W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($35.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Total: $347.91

as i said in the msg above, its not a  mission critical system, its just going to hold security camera footage. ill get HGST but ecc memory is overkill

Ah well they make drives specifically for that, not sure on what the advantage is though. cost is the same as the drive in that build already, ECC is important for data integrity overall, and there's an AM1 board that maybe supports it, but, ya I dunno
