I've been looking at all the newer PC dust filtered cases like the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv (mATX) this past year still trying to decide which one. Then I revisited some older cases that are still good. For example I still like the Corsair Obsidian 350D, which I could upgrade with their accessories like the 350D magnetic top dust cover and 350D High Airflow vented front panel with dust filter. That would make it look like a smaller 450D. I think I'm settling on the micro-ATX form factor. I guess my question is, does the age of a case on the market matter as long it's well built and you can add modern features to upgrade it?

My opinion is no.  I'm still using an Antec from 2008, and even though it's starting to lack some of today's features it's still a sturdy case.  Depending on how old of a case you get to looking at, you'll start to lack USB 3.0, and in some extreme cases wire management options (like my case).

Simply put, if it has everything you want, no.

Only concern is design as some cases look outdated, but in your case that shouldn't be an issue.
