I was planning to upgrade to skylake fairly soon and I checked out the motherboard specs, it says it supports gigabit which if it doesnt then ill just grab a pci card that does it aint a big deal, the problem is the rest of the network isnt set up for gigabit so I was wondering if its worth buying 2 of these

and these (since the router is in the other room) I have ones already but they only support 200 mbps

if they are both fine for gigabit speeds then the final problem I have is that I dont know the speeds coming directly from the router, using cat5 cables and a gigabit port on my other computer I manage to get about 100mbps, is there any way I can find out the speed I would be getting before wasting money on this extra stuff

Power line will never actually give the rated speed (gigabit in this case). In an ideal situation they give around 10% of their rated speed (depends on the model, good ones do better than cheap ones).

15" MBP TB

AMD 5800X | Gigabyte Aorus Master | EVGA 2060 KO Ultra | Define 7 || Blade Server: Intel 3570k | GD65 | Corsair C70 | 13TB

well thats fine im not too bothered about that but currently im getting less than 100mbps so it would still be an upgrade, im not looking for on the dot gigabit speeds just an upgrade to be honest, is there any other way of doing it? other than running an ethernet cable
