I was given this card at a lan and was told it artifacted.

curious, I did some testing. it was unstable on the factory overclock (it is a 7870 saphire oc) but fine as a standard ghz edition.

I tried adding voltage but that made no difference. when I looked at the reported core voltage it is all over the place, from -65v to 1.6.

any ideas as I rally want to be able to oc this card (it has an asic of 78.3)

Probably a very bad overclocker. Not really surprising since Pitcarin chips in general don't overclock well.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

i think it's a bit more than just artifacting. sounds like it's been run hard and ruined (sensors malfunctioning etc). maybe a mining card?

I think it folding@homed. any ideas for a fix? (it should be stable with its factory oc atleast...)

F@H on a AMD card is a bit pointless, more than likely that it's been mined to buggery

Drop the clocks to stable levels, supply some more voltage to it (10-15mV), give it a good PSU for clean power delivery and keep it cool.

I sound like a doctor prescribing ways to keep a dying patient alive, jesus...

im worried that the power delivery is the issue so I am reluctant to add more voltage. it is running on a good quality antec 500p. I have dropped the fectory overclock by 50mhz on each and put the power limit to 150%. it still crashes about every 20 hours of gaming (screen goes black and humming noise in headphones). any other ideas doctor?

power limit at 150? drop it to 100%. run it stock. no thrills.

it was unstable at stock, I dropped the factory oc, still unstable, but only crashed every 6 hours or so. the increased power limit was an attempt to keep it stable
