If it did, it couldn't wipe all of your drives since you'd still be booted into your C:/main OS disc.

Might be able to set it up via a live CD/USB boot, maybe.

Acronis Trueimage, BC Crypt.

It depends on how you wipe it, it can be quick or take a long time. I believe SSDs are different and you only have to format them. There is no residual magnetism.

but is there a way to time delay it, so if i couldn't get to it, it would destroy all data? dont mind using a live cd or usb

If you search for "format" in control panel and click on "create and format hard disk partitions", you should be able to format any drive. However, if you're really concerned about security you'll need a program that does a more extensive deletion than just formatting, which people have mentioned above.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

You need to disassemble the array first.

can you do that with a hardware raid array?

Yes. Create a cron job or a shell script to delete the data with a delay.

I know you want a timed program for your cause but...

I while back I saw this game that deleted 1 file off your hard drive every time you killed a "Alien" in the game, When you died the game deletes itself.

I thought it would be fun to use this if you wanted to clear the drive of everything, It would take a while but it would be fun to play :D

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

Or you could just overwrite the drive itself with 0s from the beginning.

i dont suppose you would know how to do that?

I've never personally used DBAN with a RAID setup before so I couldn't say but this is probably your best bet.

The way I have done it in the past was to boot into an Ubuntu live USB and run

dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdb <or whatever your drive is>

It's a simple method, and I think kind of fun :)
