I am calling this build "Morphine Please!" and the specs are as followed:

OS========= Windows 10 Home 64bit

CPU ======= i5 44440

CPU FAN == Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

GPU ======= GTX 745BOARD =====  Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H

RAM ======= 20gb DDR 3 @1600

Boot Drive == 250gb Samsung 850 EVO SSD

Storage ==== 1tb Western Digital Blue HDD, 2tb WD passport external drive

PSU ======  EVGA 600B

Case ====== NZXT S340 Razr Edition

Displays === 2 Gateway 23in monitors (forgot the model number, got them a few years ago)

Keyboard == Logitech G510s

Mouse ==== Redragon M901 (I love this thing)

Ethernet === 100ft ethernet cable (was on sale for $5!)

The build has not been started yet (and will not be till the weekend), but I have all the parts sitting in my room waiting.

I want to know what all your feedback is on this, and I will post a picture when it's done!

Thanks for reading!

Change out some of that ram for more CPU or GPU power! If you are using an i5 4440, you aren't using 20GB's of RAM.

LIBERATOR: Core i5 6400 @ 2.7GHz | GeForce GTX 670 2 GB | HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 @ 2133 MHz | 250 GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD
My new build; Liberator, Check it out

The more friendly we are, the more helpful we are!

MY OLD BUILD (AKA PREBUILT MONSTROSITY)
INSANITY: AMD Athlon II X2 @ 3.0 GHz | Geforce GT 720 2 GB | 4 GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz | 120 GB Silicon Power SSD | 500 GB Hitachi HDD

please use pcpartpicker.com.

What i would change :

get an i3 instead of an i5

get a b85 or h81 mobo

8gb of ram is fine

smaller 120gb ssd .

All the money you saved should be put towards a better gpu.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

The majority of the parts I have from other PCs (only a few are new and they were gifts.), I i had to base around what I had. I had the i5, the board was a gift, I have 16gb in my current PC and the other 4 is from my mom's old PC. The SSD is 250gb as I want to use it just incase my storage drive breaks, I would go though 120gb very fast.

try to find a used gpu then.

A gt 745 won't be enough to play modern AAA games

Whats wrong with the amount of ram for the processor? Last I checked it can handle 32gb... I will double check myself right now.

You are better off getting a better processor (that processor is meh) rather than ludicrous amounts of RAM.

Only that much RAM is useful in video editing, and that 4440 is not good at video editing.

Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 32 GB Memory Types DDR3-1333/1600, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.5V

I am new to this stuff (my first build besides minor upgrades.) so tell me if I'm wrong!

Currently in my desktop the i54440 is running with 16gb

I guess it is OK if you already have the processor and ram, but there are better RAM/CPU combinations that would work better for the same price.

I know it is a meh grade chip, but it is not too bad with video editing (works great with adobe premier, camtasia studio and sony vegas). The 16gb that is is already using I want to stay, and teh extra 4 is mainly I have it laying around, its computable, so I though why not.

Since I already have the chip and ram, I don't really have much of a choice to upgrade (I am open to donations :P)

hey, if you got the RAM you got the RAM, no point in not using it. What the others where thinking was that if you where buying that much, well, that money should go elsewhere. As it is though, you having all of these parts and all, it looks pretty good.

If it where me, any money going into the project I would first allocate to the graphics card, then to an SSD, then to a better display. (obviously, use these recommendation as you want, its your stuff.) If you want to find inexpensive GPUs I would look on Craig's list, just if you can, get some sort of proof that it is working.

If you can find a r9 280x for `$170 (USD) that'dbe pretty good @ 1080p. Or a gtx770 for just a bit more.

If that's too much, you can always go lower in spec, to say a r9 280, or a gtx 760, (or even a r9 270 / gtx 750ti) but I think it would be worth it to wait at that point.

You said you're starting this weekend, so you'll probably end up using your 745 at first, but you can always upgrade.

Have fun with your build!

Almost all the parts are in my current PC (aka free in this case). The new parts are:

  • Power supply
  • Motherboard
  • SSD
  • CPU Fan
  • 4gb of ram (new to me, but a free hand-me-down)

The first thing I'll do is start saving a dollar a day towards a new graphics card (the 745 is the one that came in my PC)

Thanks!
