AMD gpu encoding while OC'd driver stopped working

I was messing around with AMD's VCE after @Sakkura mentioned it too me in a post. I wanted to see how it would handle witcher 3, I have an r9 380 2gb. When I play witcher I generally apply an OC so I can stay at 60 fps almost the entire time, but when I started the game, with the OC applies, and OBS recording I get a driver crash. Any ideas for a fix? I didn't have a chance to test it without an OC yet or on a lower clock speed. Once I am home later I can mess around a bit more.

Just tested in Dota 2 and Just Cause 3, no problem for me. OC'ed to 1100/1375.

If you lazy to play with the settings/options in OBS, download latest MSI Afterburner and set it to use AMD AMF decoder. I found using MSI AB with AMD AMF give me better recording quality with less hitching/stutters. Slightly more performance hit though.

Probably an unstable overclock.

It's not a race to the bottom.

I'll give that a shot, thanks!

I did a ton of stability testing on the thing, weird that it would be unstable while encoding. Then again I don't know the specifics about how encoding works so maybe it isn't weird?

Best way to know is to try with no OC. Yes you'll lose frames while testing but you'll only be testing for a few hours, if even that.

It's not a race to the bottom.
