If this for general productivity or gaming.

Do not get that PSU.

It will be general productivity for now till my uncle can free up more cash for a GPU...

Thanks guys, couple of questions tho

1 can he OC the i3 like you can the G3258?

2 also same question on the motherboard - does a non z97 board allow overclocking?

also the pentium 3258 can be overclocked on non-z97 mobos(b85/h81 etc) after a bios update

It will be office pc to begin with but my uncle likes to get the most for his money hence the tight budget lol

Didn't know the i3 had HT so 2 physical cores with HT = 4 cool

by the time he bothers with this...he will probably get a new cpu

just build the best you can for the money..then he can upgrade the cpu later

still, overclocking wont increase performance in the level to simulate 2 threads more.

I agree, but I kinda figured they wanted to tinker with overclocking something easy/cheap just in case they messed up. Eventually going into a 4690k or something.

Seems some responses I missed out on clerified what it will be used for though. :)
