Deciding between a r9 280x and a r9 380

I've been looking for parts for a build I'm going to do and I'm wondering which card would be the best choice, mainly performance wise. As far as I've seen they are both around the same price range if I'm looking to get the 4gb vram 380. So which one should I buy?

The 380. You might save more cash though if you choose a 280x.

The HD 7970/R9 280x is faster but uses a lot more power. The R9 285/R9 380 is newer and uses less power but preforms worse.

I'd honestly go for the 280x. It's a beast. And overclocks better than gcn 1.2 as well.
