I like the Krait boards, just an opinion. I bought the g45 for my wife pc, its decent to be honest. Either way, do try and get a Z97, just a few more features over Z87

I'm looking at the same boards right now for a build with a i7-4790k. They all look like pretty good boards but I'm seeing a lot of good things about the MSI Z97 SLI Krait, MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5. They're all pretty good with each one supporting SLI, but I guess price pays an important role. At current CDN pricing I'd go for the SLI krait, unless you need the better audio or extra pcie slots the other ones give.

Which motherboard should i choose ? I'm rocking a i5-4690k and a r9-380

Msi z87 m-power-r

Or

Msi z97 sli krait

Or

Msi z97-g45

Or

Msi z97A gaming 7

Or

Gigabyte z97 gaming 3 atx

Do you guys have any other suggestions ?

I've used Gigabyte, AsRock, and MSI... As far as quality goes, I'd recommend Gigabyte or MSI. But the UEFI on them all sucks and their fan controllers are terrible.

Asus have the best UEFI and on-board fan controller.

Coming from a Z97-Pro user I can confirm this. Fan control is excellent. Too bad Asus's offerings for Z97 are so limited right now and they all have terrible I/O.

I'm using the Ranger VII and it's great... Not sure if you can still get it though.

And I forgot I could also get a asus z97A board to. Would this be any better ?

For the same money you do get a bit more with Gigabyte and MSI. When are you looking to buy? Prices were quite a bit better around black friday so Im hoping for the same around Christmas/boxing day.

Personally I'd get the SLI Krait over the Z97-A.

I dont think the ranger was ever available in North America. Right now the only Asus boards available (In canada) are the Z97-E, Z97-A, Hero  Sabertooth, and Z97-Deluxe.
