I recommend off personal experience. I've used i5's before, not xeons.

Well you've given him everything but the CPU in your first build and told him to increase it by $175 in your second. And you've chosen an I5 for Christ's sake.

The I5 isn't better than everything AMD. And for the fact, an I5 is for a build with more than a $300 budget.

A xeon is like the 4790 without the iGpu,so it is way better than the i5
