Freesync question

Hey everyone, I'm new here and stumbled upon Linus's videos because I'm building my first PC gaming rig, 

And with my first build a lot of questions came up, Linus's videos helped a lot but I couldn't find an answer, even on the internet, for the following;

 

I bought a very nice graphics card before actually knowing what Gsync or Freesync was, upon further investigation i found out what it was, but realized that

Gsync is pretty much the same as Freesync but more expensive, monitors are expensive, and Freesync is found more abundantly in monitors,

 

So the Graphics card I bought was a Gsync one, so I decided I'm going to RMA it back to newegg, and get one that is Freesync because Gsync monitors are way out of my price range (for now). And now comes my question, in order for Freesync to work, I need a freesync Graphics card and a Freesync Monitor, free sync is an AMD feature, does that mean I will also need an AMD Processor and amd motherobard as well? Or will an Intel Processor and motherboard work just fine?

380 < 970 Just FYI. Freesync and gysnc are pretty much for users who have 100hz+ monitors but their gpus only give about 40-85 fps, so it makes it smoother to prevent screen tearing.

 

Intel CPU Will work. NVidia GPU will not work with freesync.

 

IMO not worth it at all if you get proper GPU

correct me if im wrong, But free sync works on both graphics cards. Nvidia and AMD. and Gsync and Freesync is not required. Only a added bonus if you are playing competitive FPS games like csgo or you just like your game to look really smooth, and to brag to people about.

Freesync is amd's variable refresh rate tech that is technically open, but nvidia wont support it any time soon.

You just need an amd gpu for freesync.

Awesome, thanks a lot guys, glad to know i can get an Intel card, was worried id have to return my MOBO also,
