Last week the 4690k on Amazon was about $200 and now it costs $230. The MSI Z97s SLI Krait Edition was somewhere from $100 to $110 and it is now $120. Why did these price changes occur as they did not appear to be on sale during the time I was looking at them?

It's happens when the seller is switched and sometimes they inflate their prices, it usually switches when the seller is sold out of the product, It will switch back to the lowest price when the seller gets new stock.

there is a simple principle called supply and demand, the more people want something the more it will cost, and the less of a supply there is, the prices will inflate. conversely the less consumers want a product and the more of a supply there is, the lower the price

So with that said, should I just go ahead and buy the parts now? Are they just going to get continuously more expensive?

no, Because of the nature of technology, the parts will always be dropping in price as the latest and greatest comes out. With that being said, buy now because you missed black friday, unless you want to wait and hope for a christmas sale
