Hey guys,

I'm really thinking hard about my next build using AIO cooling instead of air. I'm not experienced/brave enough to try a custom loop yet, so just looking at AIO's.

However, I'm very worried about AIO reliability, specifically -leaks.

Since I'm going to build a high-end X99 rig, I'm very worried about leaks destroying my components.

I will be using the NZXT Kraken X61 to cool a 5930K, and a pair of EVGA 980ti Hybrid's in SLI.

Now, it's not a problem if fans or pumps break down, however I'm VERY worried about leaks, and this is my question:

For how long could I expect an AIO, like the ones mentioned above, to last without leaks?

Do they get more prone to leaks due to tube aging as they get older?

Is there anything I could do to ensure I never have any leaks?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

The X61 is a great AIO. I have one myself and it's great! You don't need to worry about reliability. As far as I know NZXT X61 is a very reliable AIO imo. Swiftech also makes very good AIO's. NZXT has around 6 years warranty i believe AIO's can last up to 5/6 years.

Don't drop or bend or introduce your AIO to physical abuse and it will not leak, unless it is a really cheap unit or fluke. Pump failures are the biggest problem for AIO LC's, its hit and miss, neither the two of my owned AIO's have failed yet one ran for a year before I stopped using the other is over 2 years old. But my friend has had 2 go south in the same period of time. The fans bought with AIO's are often fairly loud but that is something that you have to find out and decide on yourself.

I would be more concerned about the fittings of the older plastic tubing AIO's but the current rubber hose models and now with Corsairs beefy "pipes"  I don't think old age tubes will cause problems. The pump is more likely to fail before anything starts to break down due to age, but as with anything its the luck of the draw. So if it doesn't leak out of the box chances are it will be just fine as not every brand new car is trouble free.
