I have a 1TB HDD (not sure what kind, you can check my signature) and I'm thinking of getting an SSD. Is it worth it and if so then what type? Budget: Less than $150

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Just like @dragoon20005 said, the 850 Evo is a great option.

And if he actually DOES have an FX 6300, then the bottleneck on the 980ti is real!

While this is under $150,

So is the 500 GB Samsung EVO SSD at $147.

There are cheaper SSDs that are 500GB as well.  (like $120-$150)

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

SSDs do have great transfer speeds and instant access times. With that it gives you great responsiveness to the system, very short loading and boot times and improves the general performance of your build. Have in mind that cloning/migrating your OS from a HDD to a SSD involves a pretty good amount of risk for data corruption and compatibility problems so I'd just go ahead and do a complete fresh install of the OS and the applications on the SSD and leave everything else on the HDD (that does not require fast performance storage drives). :)
