The Forest @ Thoughts, tips and tricks?

Hello guys! I received 12 bucks as donations when I was streaming last night and since it takes foreeeever to transfer them from Paypal to my bank account I decided to see if G2A had any games for around that price, and I found 'The Forest', I've seen my friend play it before when it was just released (so yeah it was in a very early state) and I quite liked the idea but the game itself was a mess, my friend who had a fairly good computer got around 30 FPS and medium settings and there was a lot of bugs.

Either way before I bought it I searched on YT for the latest patch to see if anything was different from when I last saw it, and my oh my has it changed, it has multiplayer, it looks better, runs better and has a lot more features. So I bought it.

So I was going to ask you guys, what do you think of it? It's safe to say I am a total noob since I have played it for about 30 minutes in total and I have basically no idea what I'm doing, I'm just running around chopping down trees for fun, is there more to it than just building stuff and killing cannibals? What do you do when you play?

So onto the point, I am wondering, what should I do? I can search Google all day to find what to do but there is nothing better than hearing other peoples tips and tricks for what to do, and I also just like to hear other peoples opinions and discuss games. What do you do when you play, do you just build a base and survive, or is there more to the game in this stage? I know the main story (If I remember correctly you are looking for your son) so I know what the game is about, but can you really find your son yet or is it something they will add in the future? I may find the answer by looking at the patch notes but I haven't come that far yet, since I just bought it and I am cooking dinner atm and I'm gonna watch a movie later!

And also, does anyone here play on the EU servers? I joined a few multiplayer games but as soon as I joined I got killed by the other players for some reason, so it would be fun to team up with someone!

And for everyone that has followed the development of the game, how are the devs? Are they committed to the game and release regular updates or are they like many early-access game devs that totally abandon their games as soon as they get some cash?

Lastly I just want to point out that the main purpose of the thread is to discuss the game overall and that I'm not just looking for answer to my questions, I just figured I could ask you while I'm at it!

Sorry for wall of text

I didn't have it when it first came out, but the newer updates run beautifully on high settings on my shitty pc  :P There is also many new things that have been introduced through the updates, one of my personal favorite is the Alpine Treehouse because it gets me away from the cannibals. I think you should definitely get the game.

Yes I already bought it before I posted ^^ And yeah I just saw someone building the treehouse like 10 minutes ago before I lost connection to the host, it looked awesome!

All you need to so is gather and build. That's it. Fortify yourself from the cannibals. Exploring the underground caves are cool and can usually find great loot there. Just make sure you have plenty of weapons to defend yourself, the cannibals lives in those caves. Be prepared for a lot of stupid deaths, there are a lot of instances that a hit can send you flying above the map which means insta-death.

Ah okay cool! I just hope I can find someone to play with since I pretty much suck atm xD And yeah I'm okay with glitches and stuff like that, but what happens when you die in an multiplayer game with your friends?
