I installed clean Win10 on my desktop and it worked. I downloaded few apps. Im connected via Ethernet and have no wifi on the desktop. After I downloaded apps and updated drivers I restarted the PC and Ethernet never worked again. Been searching for solutions online but cant find a working one.

Internet connections are working great with the 3 laptops im using. I hope someone can help me. I am so pissed I wanted windows7 but sooner or later i'll be forced to get win10 back so I must have this issue fixed. I hope someone there can really help me.

I had an issue a week or so ago where I noticed my connection had jumped to WiFi and while the Ethernet registered it was listed as limited and wouldn't connect to the internet, after going through all the usual troubleshooting (resetting/replugging everything along the line etc.) what ended up fixing it was going into the device manager and under 'networking adapters' right clicking on and uninstalling my adapter (deleting drivers) then going to 'action' -> 'scan for hardware changes' and letting it reinstall.

Hope that helps.

If you like Windows 7, might as well use it. Windows 10's mainstream support life-cycle ends in 2020, the same year that Windows 7's extended life-cycle support period ends, and so there will be a new version of Windows released before Windows 7's support life-cycle ends - probably 1 - 2 years before then. So you should be able to skip Windows 10 entirely by using Windows 7 until the next MS OS is out. And Windows 10 really doesn't do anything important that Windows 7 doesn't.

People who post to say to others that they'll have to get Windows 10 sooner or later are just being shills, and there is a lot of false information about Windows 10 and other versions of windows being spread on these forums, for the purpose of getting people to move to Windows 10. LTT might be sponsored to encourage people to do so, and it certainly seems to me like there is an effort being made here to move people to Windows 10 on the basis of dishonest and conniving information.

Check my posts in this thread for some more information on the subject of Windows 7 versus 10: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/500368-should-i-upgrade-to-windows-10/

Between Windows 7 and 10, I think that Windows 7 is the clearly-superior OS. And even though I have both Windows 7 and 10 installed on my PC, after primarily using Windows 10 for 1 - 2 months, I've gone back to Windows 7 as my primary OS, and if feels like I've upgraded from Windows 10, which I've found to be a more restricted, invasive, buggy, and not in any way more sophisticated OS than Windows 7. Fundamental things such as the start menu and search are better implemented in Windows 7, where they are more functional, and less bloated. And that there are better visual customization options in Windows 7 is a major feature enhancement for me.

The only new stuff in Windows 10 is accessorial and often unwanted bulk, like manufacturer software when buying a new smartphone (which many people remove once they get it), and it all comes with major concessions to a person's control and privacy of their OS, as well as loss of major positive features that exist in Windows 7.

Apart from new file-copying mechanics, and DirectX 12, there really isn't anything OS-particular about Windows 10's new features. And too much good stuff is lost from Windows 7 to make a move to Windows 10 make sense in my view.

Windows 10 is an excellent OS for Microsoft because it monetizes everything so that MS make money just by having somebody use Windows 10 as their OS , and that's why MS are giving free upgrades to Windows 10: Because MS will make money by placing targeted ads, getting people to use the Windows store (from which they get a 30% share of sales profits), and by selling usage data to advertising companies. But for the consumer, I think that Windows 10 represents a clear and tangible downgrade from Windows 7.

The biggest feature of Windows 10 is that it has the classic taskbar and start-menu, which are designed better in Windows 7 (in efficiency, functionality, layout, and regarding visual options). That should inform a person lots about Windows 10. It's largely snake oil with a major psychological draw.

I think its something everyone needs to decide for themselves, me personally I find W7 lacking these days (so many nice little features missing on my work PC it gets frustrating sometimes), W8.1 is the oldest I'm happy using and I do find W10 to be an improvement on that personally. Every one has issues on all OSs and if an Ethernet driver is his only issue and it ends up being an easy fix I don't think that's a good reason to discount an OS.

That's your opinion but I and a lot of people think that it's a big improvement over Windows 7.

The main thing I really like is that it is way faster than W7

I don't think you know what changed... Because a lot changed since Windows 7...

EDIT: After reading the thread you linked to I really have to say that you are just bullshitting... Everything you said in that thread is countered by people with real arguments... You even recommend Windows 8?! No-one likes Windows 8... I don't know a single person who doesn't like Windows 10 even my dad likes it and he doesn't even know that it is Windows 10

Did you actually read the thread? It sounds like you didn't. The arguments, which were presented by only one person, were countered, and in some cases unequivocally corrected, by me with practical answers.

"You even recommend Windows 8?! No-one likes Windows 8"

Actually, I said 'Windows 7 or 8, depending on a person's interests', and said it because there are people on this forum, and elsewhere who say they prefer Windows 8. It wasn't a recommendation, but an acknowledgement that there are people who like it, and who don't want to use the start menu. I am not one of those people, but I acknowledge their preference, which you don't seem to be very good at doing.

Also, Windows 10 is not faster than Windows 7. It boots up a few seconds faster, and is a bit slower than Windows 7 when it comes to applications, and also when it comes to gaming.

So, you responded without reading the post you claimed to read, referencing a recommendation that isn't what you claim it is, and present misinformation regarding Windows 10's speed. And you hypocritically suggest that someone other than yourself bullshitted.

Clearly you read it so much you didn't even know what was said to be able to reference it accurately. No doubt, you read it in the manner that you read all that information suggesting that Windows 10 is faster than Windows 7, which doesn't really exist.

"Most of you guys might have already expected that, in the case of gaming performance, the three operating systems aren’t worlds apart. Nevertheless it is interesting to see that there are some actual differences. As you can see by the results gathered during our testing, Windows 8.1 is producing the highest frame rates. On second place there is Windows 7 and Windows 10 comes in third. If we were to come up with kind of a forecast, we’d be writing that maybe, at some point in the future Windows 10 could be the fastest operating system from Microsoft for gaming, but just now the crown belongs to Windows 8.1"

Your posts represent the kind of misinformation regarding Windows OS' that seems to be a bit endemic on these forums. Your low response wit won't gloss over the reality that you haven't actually said anything that substantiates as accurate.
