- I have an SSD as primary drive with Windows 8.1 on it.

- I have a HyperX (Kingston) 16gb pendrive USB.

I made a bootable Win7 iso using Microsoft USB tool on the pendrive.

- I have an 1TB Seagate 7200RPM 64MB SSHD that I bought today.

- I have Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 7 mobo

- I set boot order in BIOS to make the pendrive primary.

Windows7 setup loads just fine but after I create partition on the "Disk 1: Unallocated Space" (the SSHD) and I click next it says "Setup was unable to create a new system partition....check log".

I also noticed that after creating the partition it does not create a system reserve (100mb) partition as it usually does.

I tried the following (none worked):

- Plugged out SSD

- Formatted new partition

- Tried installing on unallocated space

What can the problem be?

Yes.

Create a new partition under "create and format hard disk partitions."

Then make one for the recommended memory space for Windows 7 or 8.1 and then format it.

Install the Windows version onto the hard disk partition you created.

EDIT: I just read what you wrote above. I'm pretty sure it creates the system reserve after you install the OS.

Your problem is probably that this isn't in the troubleshooting sub. You will note how my comment is off topic.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.
