Upgrading my current computer

Go to solution Solved by FloRolf,

i5 4670

gigabyte Z87 UD3h

gtx770

would be a pretty good system...

Wanting to upgrade my computer (MOBO, GPU, CPU) I currently have a ASROCK 890GX Extreme 3 motherboard, along with a AMD Phenom II X6 1075T cpu. Gpu is a ATI Radeon HD 3870. Looking to upgrade all those components and was wondering what a gaming setup i could get with a $750 budget (Canadian).

How about this? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/177jW

You should probably wait for the 9000 series though.

I think that if you just upgrade your GPU you would get a major performance increase. Upgrading your CPU would just be an added bonus, but GPU is where you're lacking there.

EDIT: I wouldn't recommend Haswell because your PSU might not be compatible with the low power states that it has.

System specs:  CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 705e unlocked to x4 overclocked to 2.8GHz   |   MB: ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS   |   Cooler: Hyper 212+   |   GPU: MSI GTX 560ti OC to 910Mhz   |   RAM: 8GB PNY DDR3 1333   |   HDDS: WD Caviar Blue 320GB, Hitachi 500GB HDD   |   PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W   |   Peripherals: Microsoft wireless mouse, old mac keyboard, ASUS VS238H, Gateway FPD2275W, some speakers, Logitech Driving Force Pro

So just get the graphics card, and then when black friday comes, get the motherboard and upgrade then? (i play alot of higher end games and i am tired of playing on low settings.)

from what i can see when i look at it, a "bfgr800wespus" Haha, got this computer from a friend and he never told me the specs.

The maximum wattage isn't what matters in this case. What matters is that it can produce a stead flow at a very low wattage when the CPU is at idle. I've never heard of that PSU and I doubt that it can sustain the low voltage efficiency needed for Haswell. If you still want Haswell, you would need to invest about $100 into the PSU.

Alright, do you have any idea if i can just upgrade my CPU on my current MOBO?

Hey, I'm on the same boat, except for the GPU and 1100T instead of 1075T.

It supports AM3+, so just keep the motherboard and get an 8350. That would leave you with about 500 for a new video card.

ooo, that sound pretty nice! :) Does the 8350 perform better than the Phenom?

8350 isn't supported on your board. Only up to the FX6100 is supported.
