Do i need a sound card

My Speakers connect via speak wires

 

Then you have two options:

  1. Use the optical S/PDIF output of your motherboard.
  2. Use the HDMI output of your GPU.

Im using a 7.1 amp? will getting a sound card help with better quality

Please elaborate. What is this "7.1 amp" that you're using?

I dont know what model it is Buts its onkyo branded

it might..depends on the card

to be honest..souncardcard drivers aren't keep up to data very well these days

Do you mean you have a reciever? At which point, the soundcard is probably useless. You'll need to connect the reciever via HDMI most likely if you have a compatible graphics card. Surround sound-cards are more for those boxed speaker sets that you get at Best Buy.

Sure? It would help if we actually knew what you had. Do you have speakers? Do they connect via speaker wire, e.g. with clips/binding posts?

Hdmi would be a better option for games
