Location: Houston

Budget: ~3000 for the non water cooling phase

Water cooling budget: 600-1200

Monitors: 3 1080p monitors from asus (2x) and lenovo. the 4k monitors will come next year for xmas most likely.

I have finally decided on going for intel instead of AMD for my new pc as the intel parts are newer and have better single core capabilities. The majority of games I play are mmos and on occation i'll play an fps or physics sandbox game (medieval engineers being the most recent). After creating my own budget spread sheet on excel i came to the conclusion that - cost is not an option - and i want something cool, something over the top, and something that may accidentally develop AI on its own. the minimum build life i am wanting out of this rig is 10 years (maintenance notwithstanding and with good care and hopefully solid product performance and longevity). The fan listed is temporary until i can get the rig together to make sure it works and i will be designing a water cooling system too. the fun idea behind that is to make a warp core or warp nacelle look, so any suggestions on leds led control boards and the like will be welcome. (otherwise i'll have to resort to my brother and face his ridicule upon learning out this over the top build. The ssd were already purchased at best buy for 59.99 each, and i will be reusing my 2 tb hd from my old rig. I'm opting to keep as much of my files on the cloud cause full backups are going to be tedious and boring and i want them done as quick as possible.

Keep in mind, the theme is super special awesome and its name is Warlord.

Thoughts and opinions? I'll gladly accept any help in regards to the water block needed for the mobo and the cooling system in general (I have experience building high end aquarium filter systems from home depot parts. The only difference between the inline systems i built for aquarium tanks and these for the pc is the media in which the liquid is being pushed or pulled through. +1 for my diy hobbies)

Thank you

Ya I'm always going to be a performance per dollar kinda guy

You should most definitely go X99 for that budget over skylake

and I take it you already have the displays? As you'd save a fair amount of money overall going for non X Fury cards and free-sync displays

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

i already have the 1080p monitors

hang on, what is up with the prices of your CPU/motherboard? They're insane, anyways at your budget you could afford the 4k display now pretty easily, this is what I'd suggest in conjunction with the Wasabi Mango, which does 4k, 120hz@.1080p, and has free-sync, starts at $699, 100 more for a "pixel perfect" version, or I guess maybe the price has gone up due to popularity

Here's some crossfire benchmarks for the Fury cards, they do very well mostly in part to AMD's current better scaling, and just in general being better at higher resolutions

and that's a build I keep lying around, so the case isn't really built for water cooling, you'd want like the coolermaster master Case 5, or anything from Define really

Also why is that case 300 dollars?

The pricing on the cpu fluctuates between vendors (very annoying) . I'm not paying more than 425 for the i7. As for the case I like the size of it and have been impressed by the builds that use it to prevent any clutter whatsoever. Cleanly spaced out parts is something I've become attached to. That Wasabi monitor is awesome, but the biggest screens I need for pc things is 27". I'll have to check the links for the gpu comparisons after work, I'm not adverse to amd products and would rather have them than Intel if the performance is legit

Edit* I like the mobo as it is ready for water cooling and has good wifi/lan and audio set up. All are things I want and would rather not have to buy additional things for.

Edit 2* I'm more than likely going to stick with the two 240 gig ssd that I already have, but I will keep them in mind.
