Purchasing a Thermistor

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I just built my first PC, and my motherboard (Asus Z170-A) has a T_SENSOR header on it. I'd like to attach a temp sensor to my GPU for fan control purposes, but I'm having trouble figuring out what sensor I should buy. It says in the manual that "The thermistor cable is purchased separately.", but I can't find any indication that Asus sells a thermistor. I see some online, but none of them seem to be marketed for use in PCs, and they're all rated at different levels of resistance, so I don't know what will work with my motherboard.

Any suggestions of what to buy?

Also, if anyone knows a way for me to get the Asus fan control software to recognize the temp sensors already in my GTX 970, that would fix my problem too.

Asus requires the uses 10K thermistors, I did this on my Z97-pro board which has the same temp probe option.

As for temps in say AI suite to be recognizing your GPU I believe it was only Asus cards that are capable of that since they locked the ability for other GPU manufacture's.

Thanks!

Ah, mine is an MSI card. Too bad the manufacturers reserve features for their own products.

Yeah I was looking for a way around that but didn't get very far, someone out there probably knows how to modify the software (AI Suite) but I have yet to see it done.
