Help wrong CPU speed in BIOS?

I overclocked my I7 5960x to 4.6GHz on a Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard but in the BIOS on the top right hand side the CPU speed is showing as 3.6GHz? However in CPU-Z the speed does show as 4.6GHz? even in another 2 softwares the speed is showing as 4.6GHz but just not in BIOS.

It's normal. It's a result of overclocking the CPU using Turbo, which I imagine you did.

No. You overclocked the CPU using Turbo. it's normal. I get the same thing with my 3570K.

That's just the methodology that ASUS boards use to overclock - I guess it's just utilizing Turbo Boost to up the frequency higher.

Yes thanks for that, just went into BIOS and when I disable Turbo Boost the CPU ratio goes to Auto but as soon as I put in 46 for 4.6GHz overclock the Turbo Boost enables itself automatically seems like Turbo Boost has to stay enabled.

If you go into XTU it tells you what the CPU is running stock and what it will turbo up to. It confuses people sometime if you look in the wrong spot

Yes thanks for that, just went into BIOS and when I disable Turbo Boost the CPU ratio goes to Auto but as soon as I put in 46 for 4.6GHz overclock the Turbo Boost enables itself automatically seems like Turbo Boost has to stay enabled.

Sorry that was Turbo Mode not Boost
