Watching movies and fooling around with it.

There might be cheaper stuff if that's all your doing with it. If you can't find something cheaper maybe hint at someone to nab it for you for Christmas if you celebrate that. Never a good idea to buy yourself stuff right before the holidays. (unless its a crazy deal)

Yep, this is not a bad deal.

I owned one of these for the best part of a year; it was a birthday present purchased with the knowledge in mind that these things supposedly brick after about six or seven months - a common occurance, anyway. Surely enough, after six or seven months, the tablet became laggy as fuck, almost inoperable to the point that no amount of rebooting could fix it.

Even when it ran perfectly fine, there's not much to offer in terms of applications - it has bits of things and games, not that they're all the optimised (and sideloading is a bitch for what reward it brings). I know you say only movies, but the prices in the PlayBook/BlackBerry movie store (thingy) are ridiculous, and you have to buy each movie at full price. I'm not even sure if anyone but Canada have access to that, anyway.

For "fooling around"? Sure. In my case, after I'd run out games and the performance haulted, I just gave it to my father who himself turned it into a clock (which he uses to this day!) after purchasing a Nexus 7 shortly after.
