Edit:  This should be labeled Recommendations for Upgrading my PC :P

Hello all!  I am a fan of Linus Tech Tips on YouTube, and just recently built my new computer!  I bought it for gaming and homework, and have enjoyed it to an extent.  However, now I am pondering upgrading it, and would like to consider all of my options.  I think I am bottle necked because of my CPU and/or RAM, but I don't know.  I have pushed this PC pretty hard, and have overclocked the processor to different levels.  If you could, rate my PC, troubleshoot my presented problems, and make hardware recommendations! Without further ado, here is my build:

Note - Everything was bought using Amazon Prime.  I saved quite a bit of money!

OS: Windows 10 (awesome)

GPU:

XFX RADEON Double D R9 280X 1000MHz BOOST Ready 3GB DDR5 2XmDP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9-280X-TDFD

This bad boy I found used on Amazon, and was impressed with it until I noticed that it is not overclockable.  It was $150, and at the time, I thought it was a steal.  After I took my water cooler out (due to the below mention of it having to be side mounted in the case), however, I have experienced graphical issues, which I presume to be because I had to remove the GPU as well.  My graphics occasionally jerk up and down while in a browser, and while I am working my computer can completely graphically freeze up or crash, while everything else (including music) seems to be working correctly during the graphical crash.  It may be the GPU itself, or I may just need to reinstall windows.  Currently I can play CoD Bo3 on High and Extra settings just fine, with zero issues, and these issues only stem while browsing and idling my computer it seems.

RAM:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

This is 1 stick of RIPJAWS and has served me well.  I am able to play the games I like on Ultra settings with it.  What would be the benefits of upgrading it?  My computer starts very quickly, and would sooner move to an SSD to improve load speeds.

Case:

Sentey® Gs-6008 Plus Stealth Gaming Computer Case - 1 USB 3.0 + 1 USB 2.0 & Hd Audio and MIC - 1 X 120mm Front Blue LED Fan and 2 X 120mm Led Lateral Fan's - 2.5" SSD and 3.5 Support - Form Factor: ATX Micro Atx and Mini Itxsupports up to 330mm Long Graphics Cards - CPU Coolers That ARE up to 150mm in Height ARE Supported / / Cable Management / Watercooling Ready + Hidden Cable Sytem / Support Any Power Supply

Okay, so, I really do not like this case.  The way this specific board is mounted in the case, makes all of the LED cables have to be routed over, or under the GPU.  This is an extreme pain.  Also, the case advertises that it is water-cooling ready, however upon hooking up my Seidon Cooler master, I found that there is no place to mount the water cooler except on the side panel.  As you can imagine, this is terrible, and I shortly afterwards sent my water-cooler back (although I did manage to OC my CPU to 4.7GH/z and blast through Bioshock Infinite on ultra settings).  Also, my GPU hardly fits inside of the case, even though the advertisement states that it can.  The problem comes in the form of a metal bar in the case, which I had to cut out with tin snips (recently) which blocks my GPU from being plugged in on the top.  So yeah, I am looking to replace this case.

Motherboard:

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

I bought this motherboard because I trust Asus.  I was looking at Gigabyte motherboards, and read somewhere that their USB drives either use, or used to use fuses.  I didn't want to deal with that in the future, so this was a good choice.  I chose this as it has USB 3.0 and 6Gb/s SATA, and this board is what I believed to be the fastest of the low end AM3+ motherboards AMD offered.  For a price of $45 with prime, I couldn't turn it down.

CPU:

AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition

This sucker is amazing.  With a water cooler I can overclock it to 4.7Gh/z and it is stable.  It survives the torture tests and I have had zero issues with it thus far (unless it is the one responsible for my occasional graphical glitching).  Currently I have the stock heatsink installed and can (when necessary) overclock it to a comfortable 4.1Gh/z for gaming, and it won't heat up over 48 degrees Celsius.

I enjoy my keyboard and mouse, and HDTV which I use as a monitor, and do not think I will be upgrading them in the future.  I will drop another water-cooler in whenever time permits, but am seriously considering upgrading my GPU, Motherboard and RAM if I am bottle necking.  AMD states that my Processor doesn't meet the recommended requirements for CoD Bo3, but I run the game just fine.  Do I seriously need more than 6 cores clocked at 4.1Gh/z (no boost enabled when OC'd) for gaming?

There's no bottleneck there.  Not a terrible build either.  I would have gone with a locked i5 or i3 over the AMD CPU but the GPU choice was pretty good.  What PSU do you have?  That is usually a place where builders cut corners.
