Nexus 9 - improving performance?

So my nexus 9 seems to be a little slow, and I was thinking of rooting it but does it help performance and will it free up some ram? It uses 1.5gb currently and am not really doing anything

What rom and kernel would you suggest? Thanks!

You could try uninstalling some programs.

Not sure rooting will help anything (at least if you don't overclock it, which I don't recommand).

A factory reset is never a bad idea after a big update like Marshmallow, you could try that first.
