Maybe a quick question?...

Go to solution Solved by KraftDinner,

No you'll be fine, but mounting it to the back of your TV might result in electromagnetic interference especially if you got a bunch of other shit being routed back there. For the most part you should be fine though, test it out and see how it goes.

So I got a new 8 port switch for the living room, its metal old one was plastic blah blah. My question is I was thinking about various ways to hide/mount it behind my entertainment center and the idea for a magnet came up. A magnet on the back of the unmanaged switch to stick it on the back of the metal support on the entertainment center. It just seems easier to access that way because double sided tape would be a pain every time I need to use a port or unplug something from it. Would using a magnet mess up the signal/net connection in any way? I am clueless on this one so any thoughts are appreciated thanks.

if it matters it's the Netgear GS108-400NAS ProSAFE GS108 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch.

Shouldn't be a problem a few small matching magnets would work really well, usually stuff like HDD's would be the biggest worry.
