Fan Placement Question

Go to solution Solved by dankarlo,

They're basically the same fan but rated for different speeds.

What case are you using and what are you cooling?

Have you tried lowering fan speeds to minimize noise?

Thanks. I'v resolved this. i put it in one of the front intakes and lowered the rmp tp 800. I tested the noise level with Sound Meter and it is around 26dB from 1m distance which is good. I can only hear the soft wooosh of the fans :)

Hello guys and girls,

I have a question regarding the fan placement in my case.

I recently bought 2 new fans: Cryorig QF120 Performance and Silent.

The Silent one goes perfectly on one of the side panel holes as it is a 1000 rpm and the honeycome grill which is on the case is not leading to the annoying buzzing sound with other fans.

The second fan which is the QF120 Performance (2200 rpm max) is much more audible (can't hear the Silent one), so I am wondering where to place it, so I can have the most gains from it. I am not willing to swap it for my CPU fan (TT Frio Silent 12) because it is quiet and does a good job.

I suspect that the best place for it would be as a front intake because there is a mesh in front of it and HDD cages at the back of the fan. It is rated for high pressure, so I am hoping it would be a good option.

Does anyone have a better idea?
