Thank you so much for the help.  The recommended system specs for Fallout say to have a CPU over 3.6GHz, will this do the job?  I know that CPUs can go over the speed advertised.  Mine says 3.5 but on my task manager it goes a little over that.  And my CPU runs the game ok, but the fan goes crazy if I try to do a lot in-game.

Currently I have an AMD FX- 6120 Six-Core Processor 3.5GHz. I want to buy a new CPU to run Fallout 4, but I don't know where to start and, I don't know if I would have to buy a new mother board too.

Thanks!

whats your budget?

I'd like to spend around 250 to 300

is that in USD or a different currency and is that your budget for just the cpu or both the cpu and motherboard

yes it will be fine most of the time recommended system specs are higher than the game actually needs
