I have a 945 AMD processor,

with an Asus m4a785td-v evo mb,

and a Gigabyte HD7850 gpu.

Is it worth upgrading to a 4770k processor and a MSI z87 gd65 gaming mb?

I want to do CrossFire with my HD7850 gpu ...

And i want the build to keep me going for at least 5 years before upgrading again...

You dont need a 4770k for gaming, upgrade graphics card instead.

if it's for gaming, there's not any game that are optimised for ivy bridge and haswell, BF3 is made for making money, not optimising it for our newer architectures

which they have done, I'm very surprised with how well scaling works in that game, you can Sli and get extremely good scaling than most games I see

No need to change your processor. Wait for few years (maybe even OC your processor a bit) at least for another generation of processors. Right now the speed difference isnt enough.

And I mean something like Skylake (Intel) or Excavator if it even is released for PCs (AMD).

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

I bought a second gtx670 for play smoothly in 1080p at Ultra settings, I failed, there's no change at all, CPU is bottlenecking, overclocked it to 4500MHz at 1250mV it works better but fails a lot

the price difference between the 4670k and the 4770k is like $80(in South Africa)... so that price difference I would rather go for the 4770k...

and I am also using my build as a mini workstation...

and I am using my pc everyday and multitasking alot...

cant overclock my cpu because my mb and cpu bombs out if i change any settings... and my processor is locked 945  :( ... so I'm stuck at 3.0ghz...

thats why I'm deciding on upgrading to the 4770k that's unlocked and I know it will keep me going for a very long time  ...

The only benefit of a 4770k is hyperthreading, so unless the programs you use day-to-day will utilize hyperthreading (graphic design programs, video editing software, livestreaming etc.) you shouldn't get the 4770k. Obviously it's your decision, and either way it's a good purchase, but if you aren't going to utilize hyperthreading you're just spending extra money for nothing.
