Hi guys

I want to upgrade my screens but their is too may choices !

I've picked 3 of the best choices i've found, if anyone has them or something similar you'd be kind to share your experience :)

- One ultra wilde monitor : http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00183435.html

- Two 4k displays : http://www.ldlc.com/comment/c4623/p201405260045/samsung-28-led-u28d590d/

- One 4k TV : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TWFHELW/ref=twister_B00WCIJCKW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

All of these look very sexy, i'd love to take them all but i can't..

It's mainly for gaming, i have a crossfire of R9 280x overclocked at 1120MHz and vram at 1650MHz so i can run a game in 4k, i will watercool them in a few days/weeks and replace them with the new amd/nvdia gpus and recycle the loop for thoses in about a year.

By the way i like to watch 1 youtube video full screen do something else, in case i take the TV is it possible to split the screen in 4 virtuals one ?

Thank you guys for your time

Constantin

lol two 280Xs arent enough to game on 4k

unless you enjoy medium quality settings, which kinda defeats the purpouse of a high-res monitor

-snip-

i think i'll go for that too, one single 34 is not enough space and a TV is way too big on a desk, let's see if someone give some good points for those two.

The 7990 is the equivalent of two 7970, so two R9 280x and as you can see it's thigh, plus my R9 280x are well overclocked for air cooling and will be even more with my liquid cooling. I'll have at least 43/44fps on far cry 4k ultra and at least 47/50 fps on Battefield 4k ultra.

Edit : Of course i'm not saying that i will have the stability of a single GPU, or the low noise of a 980ti (yeah 2 R9 280x are a hell of a fucking airplane noise) but i'll have the horse power on the games who are well with crossfire.

lol that's already below 60fps though, it's gonna look horrible, with lots of screen tearing

unless you turn on vsync, in which case it will look all stuttery as it runs at 30fps

and btw those are average fps values, not minimum

minimum is going to be far worse, with drops to 20 or 10fps causing lag spikes that disrupt the gaming experience

I don't see how having 4k is worth all these other negative effects...

I'm not convinced at all that 280x cf can do 4k. I upgraded from a vapor x 280x to a 970 GTX and difference was insane. Now think that a 970 gtx > 780ti in most titles and my 970GTX struggles in a lot of games at 4k, around 15 to 20 FPS.

and look at this :

in some games they're returning 40 - 50 fps in 1080P and some titles the 780ti beats the cf set up.

I wouldnt get your hopes up.

I don't mind playing at 35/40fps, below is too low. Anyway those R9 280x will be replaced, and i don't want to replace my screen at the same time, i'm upgrading my screens now and i'll upgrade my gpus later, the equivalent of a 980ti today, in sli of course i i think they'll handle a good framerate in a 4k display.

If i'm not satisfied with my 4k experience with the 2 R9 280x i can lower the resolution anyway.

Hi, a friend of mine has a 970 overclocked af but still i have better perfs.

Anyway that's not the point, the point is what's best with 2 high end GPU's, because i'm buying for the futur.

Well i guess it really depends on your situation position. If you bought a 4k tv could you make use of it as a TV whilst still been able to game on it? I say this as I have a 55" 4k which is wall mounted (as its a TV lol) but my PC is to the side in the living room. Basically the only games I can play through the TV are games I can play using a controller. Any keyboard/mouse games I play through my 1080P monitor (soon to be 1440P as I will be SLI 970 after the weekend)

I know one thing though (actually its my opinion) I wouldn't ever play through split screens so I were you id go TV or the 34"

Hi, thanks for your answer

I'm gaming mainly with controler, but i play some games like league of legends with the keyboard mouse combo, that's why the TV is not my best choice, plus it's will be too high on my desk.

Next year i'm moving to canada so i'll have my option there i guess, for now i will take the two 4k screens, i can't have only one screen and i don't have the budget to take 1 4k and 1 3440*1440.

Does anyone know if you can run a 4k monitor through the CPU smoothly ? Not for gaming. This way i can have my gpus focused on the main gaming screen.

I have a i5 4760k.

Thx guys

I would suspect it would be fine, as long as you don't game which you have already said you aint gonna.

Why not the 34" btw?
