Hey guys i am in need of some help, i was on a really tight budget and bought some computer parts before i even looked at reviews, and my pc is having some problems

SPEC:

AMD FX 4100 Stock Clocks

Asus M5A99X Evo Rev 1.0

Corsair Vengeance 16gb kit 2x8 1600mhz

Thermaltake Msi Commander

Nvidia Msi Gtx 660ti OC Power Edition

Thermaltake TR2 500w PSU

The problem i am having is that sometimes in games my fps tanks for no reason.

eg) COD BOII - avg 100+ then all of a sudden it goes to 40 and it feels like its lagging when in fact 40 fps should feel like lagg

eg) Batman Arkham City - Fps dips to 1 then goes back to an avg of 40 fps.

Can it be that my psu is the problem ?

500W is more than adequate for your system so we can probably completely throw that out for being the cause of your problem.

Desert Storm PC | Corsair 600T | ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ | AMD FX-8350 | MSI 7950 TFIII | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 | Seasonic X650W I Samsung 840 series 500GB SSD

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

That's probably a completely different issue as said, a faulty power supply will cause more problems that random performance drops. CPU isn't that much of a bottleneck either, it wouldn't result in such random performance spikes.

What are your temps during load?

FPS drops that you discribe are prob not from you PSU... Maybe CPU but that also should not be because the 4100 should be a decent CPU. 8350 is offcourse better but 4100 is okay... Hmmmmmm Temps also look good... Any other problems with it?

Are the drivers up to date?
