WINDOWS OS QUESTIONS!

Go to solution Solved by Analog,

Ah :/ The guy above said you can reuse windows as many times as you like as long as it is not on more than one system at once, is that right or is yours right? thanks :)

Depends on which Windows... I know Windows 7 could do that, Windows 8 and 10 - I don't think so. Of course this applies to desktops only. For laptops, it is different, because then the key is embedded in the motherboard.

Hi, i have some questions about the paid version of windows 7/8/10. As many answers as possible would help thanks!

I am thinking of buying an ssd, my hard drive does not have a partition on it so how would i get the os on to the ssd without buying windows again?

If my hard drive broke, could i just purchase a new one, put my already used windows disc in and reinstall it on that hard drive? Or would i have to rebuy windows?

I am currently with amd (budget build) but plan on moving to an intel i5, if i changed my motherboard and processor but kept everything else the same would the pc work as usual or will windows have a problem with me changing the hardware? If so what would i have to do?

All help appreciated, thank you!

If you bought Windows with a disk, it should come with a product key that you can use to activate. You can't have that code activated on more than one PC at a time though.

i7 4790k | GTX 970 | 16GB

That's all you need to know. It's a beast.

1. You can clone the existing OS to the SSD using some kind of software. Most SSDs come with something included in the box so you can use that. Samsung Magician Software is the best IMO.

2. You could buy a new hard drive if your other one broke and install Windows from the CD, but your key will be invalid, since you have used it once already.

3. If you change your board and processor you will have to reinstall Windows once again for best performance and stability. Then you have problem 2...

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here
