skyrim/enb optimization mods?

Just wondering about any popular mods for skyrim that help optimize things a bit better im running a pretty demanding version of the game and while its usually perfectly fine, fluctuating between 30-60 fps every now and again the FPS just TANKS for about 30 seconds to a min or 2

Optimizer Textures - use it to make minimaps and correct dimensions of textures

Skyrim Performance PLUS - Improve performance of tree leaves, snow and rain

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD & TES5LODGen to make LODs and/or provide LODs that were missing.  They smoothed out things quite a bit for me.

Have you noted any similarities when your performance drops?

disapointed I think DDOL is going to be the only one to help me but I quickly grew frustrated with trying to install it before and Im worried its gonna murder-kill my mods :(

Have you tried any particle effects optimizations mods?

Did you go a bit overboard with grass mods?

Ive managed to squeeze a few more fps out of it with texture optimization and SPP

the biggest ones thgat are hitting me probably are

Vividian ENB

Bigger Trees (according to tek syn this hits fps hard)

Trees HD

Skyrim Flora overhaul basic

and unique grasses and groundcovers

Are you using ENBoost?  I want to suggest that you have a memory management issue there, but idk.

Oh I get it, don't worry.  Took me an entire weekend to install it as I have well over 500 mods installed(Thank you Merge Plugins xEdit Script) and it's a fairly complex installation even without juggling/researching compatibility.

Gamerpoets video describes the installation process for replacing skyfalls with DDLOD.  I thought it was helpful and interesting as skyfalls I seem to recall was his/their mod.  Also touches base with SMIM.  The apprehension was a bigger hurdle to overcome in my experience.

But from a performance standpoint I don't necessarily believe DDLOD will help you despite how much it improved my performance.  Your system is wildly more powerful than mine(Laptop core duo quad, GT 130m).  If/when you do try it just backup first, like for real an not just a token effort.

This actually seemed to help me out a reasonable amount

Nice, may have to try that one myself.

:edit: The depth of field in the videos is super irritating though.

Yea... ENBoost is kinda a requirement as far as I'm concerned, certainly is for me.  Though there are some mods and capture software that won't work with it.

just for clarification so I dont royally screw up my ENB, I overwrite my ENB "enblocal" file with the one from ENBoost?

back it up, it's a 2KB file.  open both in notepad and check the differences.  May be some conflicts or outright completely difference settings that you can copy/paste into a personalize localENB.ini

http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/ will be where you want to look, it's been a long while for me and that's where the newest version of ENBoost is found.  No point in using the one on the nexus.

Though it's probably easier to backup and try each permutation.  Care to paste your current localenb.ini setting?

Ok.  Now created a new text document on you desktop

change the file name to localENB.ini

paste the contents of both your original and ENBoosts setting in there corresponding sections

then pick and choose the setting you want where there are conflicts.

test it.

Welcome to PC gaming :P

Is that a requirement for your setup?  I'd typically want to run with true on x64.

you can also test quality setting 0 vs 1 see what you notice

[ADAPTIVEQUALITY]

Quality=1

Also If you're using MO their may be extra steps as MO has its own ini files that override the normal ones.

quick and dirtly slapped together.  probably won't work, it's the sort of thing the end user needs to do themselves, but you can try it.  STEP does describe a lot of the settings.  I personally just try things, more than I should.

MO = Mod Organizer (As in THE Mod Organizer and not "a mod organizer")

If Vividian doesn't NEED it, then change it.

and ya I cant say I seen any appreciable difference between the 1/0 setting, its nothing I can see in my fps or the 2 screen shots I took

Well it was worth a shot.

When you tried EnBoost can you describe the fugly?  Like what visual features disappeared?

quick and dirtly slapped together.  probably won't work, it's the sort of thing the end user needs to do themselves, but you can try it.  STEP does describe a lot of the settings.  I personally just try things, more than I should.

unfortinately this seemed to hurt performance a smidge ...not over what it was when I made this thread but since I tried some of the optimization mods it seems to of that being said my FPS is considerably more playable overall, as for what happened when I use the ENBoost ini what changed alot..., more then I could point out I didnt play it long but alot of textures looked awful that was the 1st thing that stuck out to me.
