PSU Cabling problem...

Go to solution Solved by MourningSouls,

I would grab two cheap 6+2 extensions, pull the wires and replace the GPU side connectors. Then hide the +2's in the back.

Hey guys!

I recently bought a Cooler Master Pro M2 1000w power supply, but I have ran into a little problem...

http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/silent-pro-m2/silent-pro-m2-1000w/

The power supply has modular slots for 3 x 6pin cables.

The supplied cables are all 6pin male (to psu) to 8pin + 6pin males. (to gpu)

I have 2 x 680 GPUs that both use 2 x 6pin connectors.

I want a solution that will be the most pleasing to the eye, what do you guys think I should do?

I though about getting custom extensions, that start with a 6 pin male and ends with one, but the one on the end pig tails into another 6 pin male.

The other option is to cut the one 8pin connector into a 6pin like the picture I have below:

The guys that can do it here (In south africa), said it is going to be difficult to sleeve the cables and pig tail them. Apparently 2 x cables and sleeving wont fit in a connector.

You beast! I will do this! Can I pull those molex pins without the proper tools?

Shouldn't be a problem, I think I used some tweezers and a knife. Just squeeze the little clip things and extract, then expand them before inserting into the new connector.

Hey guys!

I managed to get other connectors on my modular cables, I think it came out pretty sweet!

I now have 2 cables that are 6+2 pigtailed to 6+2 and 1 cable that still has the 8pin and a pigtail 6 pin! Im still wondering why Cooler Master didn't just make them like this from the get go...
