Currently in the midst of putting together my first PC and need some CPU advice. :D

Originally, I thought of purchasing the i7-6700k, but it's out of stock. So now I am debating between waiting on it or looking at the i5-6600k or i7-4790K. On newegg.ca, there's a $150 difference over them. Which would be better on performance, or is waiting on the 6700k still the best idea? This will be strictly for gaming as I don't do any editing whatsoever.

A 6600k will do quite well for gaming. No real need for an i7, take the money you save from getting an i5 and get a better gpu if possible.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
