If you had to chose... Matrix GTX 980 or Sapphire R9 Fury?

Noirgheos

I've only been around for 16 years my friend. Never heard of it, most likely was before my time as well.

Only been around 18 years myself, but I love old hardware.

Quick search proves you wrong. Even the 980 beats it. And that's the 390X btw.

Again, quit spewing BS.

So techspot is the be all and end all? All sorts of other sites have different results.

Gamespot had images on a thread. Not looking any further.

At 1080p the 980 Ti wins by 15-20FPS. Still not worth $600 more.

What you can or cannot afford has no bearing on me.

Show me. These are the latest drivers from nVidia.

Be sure to include benchmarks from the latest nVidia and AMD drivers. Not from August.

Alright, I concede I had the figures mixed. The 980Ti beats it by a couple of FPS. But look at the minimum FPS. That's where the AMD card edges out the 980Ti.

Pretty good considering the 290X is 3 years old, and that AMD has always suffered with frame times.

i pray that this is a driver issue and not a maxwell issue. nvidia needs to get their shit together for DX 12 when their flagship gaming card is being matched by a mid/high teir amd card. it looks like if nvidia doesnt fix this soon AMD might not go broke after all

It should have a bearing on you if you're trying to recommend something while taking into account a budget. Price-to-performance ratios are important when building to a certain budget. If money is no object, then sure, buy the absolute best of the best.

Given that this is a 980Ti benchmark and not a Titan X benchmark, we could see the 290X become the Titan Killer once again. That'd be interesting...

I'm talking about the 390X being close to the flagship cards.

oh, well ive already said that in terms of physical hardware the fury X should be MUCH faster than the titan X. the drivers just arent optimized/ dx12 isnt being used

They'll be neck and neck. Fury is limited by 64 ROPs. And DX12 is overhyped. It won't be until 2-3 years before we start seeing games massively replacing D3D11

Buy the Sapphire R9 Fury GPU. The GTX 980 is slower than the Fury and costs more. They have the same amount of vram, but the Fury's vram is going to be better since it's running on new tech. Also, why do those cards cost that much, it costs like ~$500 here and they are fairly similarly priced.

Canada.
