New smartphone?

I have an HTC One M7.  Battery life is abysmal, camera is done for (the purple lense problem), and it's getting a bit slow overall.  What would you recommend for a new smartphone?

 

What I need (in order from most to least important)

- Works on Verizon

- Very good battery life (I'm sick of charging my phone half way through the day)

- fast all around (I'm not sure if touch wiz still lags on new phones, etc)

- I like using my phone in one hand, so a smaller phone would be nice, but I'm willing to get something bigger

I know it's not the one handed king, but I'd go Note 5.

It gets excellent battery life, lag is minimal, has an awesome camera. There's a one handed mode you can enter with three quick taps of the home button. I use it, and while it'll take a while to get used to, it's great. I wouldn't use it while walking, but if you're well balanced it does the job.

 

If you can afford to wait, I'd strongly suggest seeing how the SD820 and new Exynos processors fare in the phones coming out early next year.

 

Maybe pick up a 2nd gen Moto G tomorrow for $99 and rock that for a few months?

TouchWiz is slightly laggy on everything but the Note 5, but the Note 5 is big.
