WD Blue - OS Drive?

Hey so my mom's desktop drive failed and it's still got some decent specs so I'm not planning on throwing it away yet. I was wondering, would a WD Blue work for an OS drive? She said she's not planning on spending money for an SSD.

This is very encouraging... this thread has increased my hope for humanity.

SSDs have become so standard now that people will question if an HDD can even function as a boot drive!  Lovin' it!  B)

I have a green WD drive and it takes a bit of time to get into gear before I can access files on it. And on their page they said they stopped with the green drives and moved them to blue or something.

Nah. Greens were a problem because they kept slowing the platter down constantly. Blues don't have that problem unless you're just not accessing the drive ever.
