Mouse/Keyboard/Monitor Unresponsive

So I'm having a bit of a weird issue.  I just did a brand new build and I have an ASUS z170-a motherboard.  So if I leave my pc up and running and it doesn't have activity for a few hours, everything becomes unresponsive.  I thought this was a sleep issue, so I disabled sleep all together.  I left my machine up this morning at 7am thinking I had resolved the issue.  When I came home at noon for lunch I found the mouse/keyboard/monitors unresponsive.  I had to hard reset the pc to restore proper functionality.  Any ideas on this?  Really appreciate any and all help.

You should really put your computer to sleep or shut it down if you are going to leave it for more than 20 minutes

If you are using windows 10 then I would suspect a memory leak

My apologies, could you explain? Memory leak could mean quite a few things.

Well, first of all, if you aren't using windows 10 then it likely ISN'T a 'memory leak'. But I assume you are since you didn't say otherwise?

a memory leak is a type of resource leak that occurs when a computer program incorrectly manages memory allocations in such a way that memory which is no longer needed is not released

I've seen a number of posts on this forum where Windows 10 slowly uses up more and more RAM...

May or may not be Windows' fault

I just searched the forums and the only topic that was even vaguely resolved was this one:

Do you have MSI Command Center?

Have you checked the windows event log?

Like I said, putting your computer into sleep mode or just shutting it down when not using it should prevent this
