Two types of iFixit toolkit?

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

I am looking into buying an iFixit pro tech toolkit, looking it up on amazon, there is two I can pick between:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/iFixit-IF145-072-1-Tech-Toolkit-Pieces/dp/B007XGWQ2Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448472201&sr=8-1&keywords=ifixit+pro+tech+toolkit - £46

http://www.amazon.co.uk/iFixit-Toolkit-extra-Anti-Static-Wrist/dp/B00Y3PG9TY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1448472201&sr=8-4&keywords=ifixit+pro+tech+toolkit - £137

What is the differences between these two since the price is so drastically different? Looks like the expensive one has an extra wrist strap, but is that really it?

The £137 price one looks like a bullshit rip off

the £46 one is officially from ifixit

the expensive one is from some 3rd party resellers, hence not prime and not fulfilled my amazon

The cheaper one is sold by iFixit, the more expensive one is by a third party.  Get the one officially sold by iFixit.

I have never noticed the "fulfilled by Amazon" - definitely something I will look out for in the future - thanks for the rapid answer!

This is the price on the official iFixit store, so one has to wonder why that third party is selling it for more than double the official price.

https://eustore.ifixit.com/en/Tools/Toolkits/All-new-Pro-Tech-Toolkit.html This one? It is the same price as the one off of Amazon, but seems to be the updated one?

Yep that's the updated version.  The core part of the kit will be the screwdriver set, which I think they've modified a bit to include the most common screwdriver heads needed for current tech on the market.  But I don't think there's really a big change here, perhaps 2-3 screwdriver heads being replaced.  The case holding the tool bits have changed though, now the cover is a magnetic parts holder.

It's the rest of the kit I think that has the biggest changes, the selection of prying tools, spudgers, tweezers that are included.

They've also seemed to have lowered the price of the previous version, you can see it on that page.
