Hi Guys,

I am planning to build a new Gaming rig.

Need your help and views basis following  pointers:

  1. I wont be overclocking and will stick to a single graphics card
  2. Have to choose between Asus Strix 4Gb 970 GTX Direct CU II OC and MSI 4G Gaming 970 GTX
  3. Want to play all games for the coming 3 to 4 years at Max settings
  4. Will go for Skylake. Have trouble deciding between i7 6700k (for its 4Ghz speed  even though k is not useful for me), i7 6700, i5 6600k and i5 6600. Want to stick to latest and hence not considering Devil's Canyon
  5. Dual Channel 16 GB RAM (2 x 8 Gb) is what I want to go for. Corsair, GSkill are my choices. Open for suggestions.
  6. Wont be LAN Gaming so the bells and whistles about ethernet etc are not required.
  7. Have decided on H170 series and Asus is my first choice followed by Gigabyte. Have trouble choosing between mATX and ATX. Need your help
  8. What is the PSU power i should go with? Online calculators indicate 550 W @ 80% efficiency is enough. Is it OK or should i go for higher wattage? Corsair and Cooler Master are my two choices,
  9. Considering the Dragon War GKM-001 Sencaic Professional Gaming Keyboard & Mouse Combo Set. Is it good?
  10. A budget cooler - CM Hyper 212X is good enough?

Have attached my planned config. However I am more than happy to welcome expert inputs from you.

Either gpu is fine. Pick the one that strikes your fancy, is least expensive, or will look best in your build. But check out R9 390 gpu first. They have slightly better performance characteristics.

If you are going with a gpu like a GTX 970 or R9 390, getting an i7-6700K is a waste. An i5-6600 or i5-6500 is fine.

Eight GB is enough memory. Get a 2x4 kit, DDR4-2400 CL 15 or better. Higher speeds will not appreciably affect gaming. Both G.Skill and Corsair make excellent memory modules, pick the one that looks best to you and/or is the least expensive.

I like Asus motherboards. But Gigabyte are also very good. The choice of size really depends on the case choice. If you are getting an ATX case, get an ATX motherboard. Your needs are such than an mATX case and motherboard will be just as good a choice.

CM Hyper 212X would be an excellent choice. Make sure that it will fit in the case and that there will be no issues with memory module height. Unless the system will operate in a relatively warm room, the stock cooler could be used. (i5-6600K and i6-6700K do not come with stock coolers. But locked Skylake model generally include a cooler in their retail package.)

If you get a GTX 970 a good 450W psu is sufficient. I would suggest an 80+ Bronze or better rated model. If Superflower, Seasonic, or EVGA are not available Corsair RMx, RMi, or HX series are generally very good. Cooler Master V and VS series are also quite good. I would not get a CM GX series unless there are no better choices.

Instead of a hybrid drive, get an ssd and an hdd. I would suggest a 240GB+ ssd if at all possible; 120GB if not.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
