Hey guys, I'm in the market for possible getting a new video card. At the moment I have the HIS IceQ x2 R9 280x. I'm just looking for suggestions on what is the best video card for the money as I'm not overly flush with cash. I'm don't prefer AMD over nVidia or vice versa, I just prefer the better card :). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

i7 4790k, MSI gaming 3 motherboard, evga 750 B2 psu, 8gb hyperx fury, 1tb HDD, 120gb SSD, fractal design R4 case, and the HIS iceQ x2 R9 280X

2 280x honestly should last you for a while still if you're playing on 1080p and even 1440p. I'd wait until AMD and Nvidia come out with their new cards.

So theoretically if I could do crossfire, would it be compatible with all games or are there drawback to it. Would I have to get the exact same gpu for crossfire or could I choose something else. Also would I need a bigger psu?

Crossfire is not compatible with all games, any 280x or GPU with the same chip is compatible to crossfire, and your powersupply is fine.

Crossfire is not plug and play, it takes a bit of work but that work is fun in itself. But it's always better to have one powerful card over two lesser cards.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I'm using a Sapphire Nitro 390 OC edition with a back plate. I personally think it's the best 390 you can buy and if you can find one cheaper it's usually within 15 bucks so I don't see a reason to get a lesser card to save how much lunch can cost.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Could I ask you to post a link to it so I'm sure I have the right one?

Sure!

I'll further sweeten the pot by showing you what it looks like in a case with the back plate hit with some blue LEDs.

The 280x is still a great GPU. I worked for a developer that has a relationship with Nvidia and all the guys there loved the 280x. So I wouldn't worry too much. And if you decide to sell the 280x you should get a good price for it.
