Hello, im struggling to find a cheap LGA 771 cpu active not passive cooler in the uk, of which i need two.

 

i would like some help on either finding one, or an alternative (I don't mind bodging with cable ties if have to).

 

i have a mobo with 2 Intel Xeon E5420. if that helps.

Thanks but that's no use, there is only one cooler on there which has 2 available, and its a passive, I'm trying to find an active one (I've edited thread to clarify.)

the server LGA771 coolers are a really odd pattern... they are apparetnly the same as some really old intel socket... The rack mount servers will use OEM cooler clamps...

 

I bought a Dell FD841 heatsink 

 

these are OEM for my Precision T7400 - check to see if these are teh same cooler bolt pattern that you need.

 

These towers are fairly big and would be well suited to zippy tying a fan to.The 

 

Dell t7400 runs a "wind tunnel" with a 180mm or so fan blowing air thru a large plastic shroud that cools the CPU's and RAM - it has a 140mm fan inside it as well.
