I have a Asus Sabertooth p67 board with an i5-2500k @ 4.5 ghz and Corsair 1600mhz CL9 memory.

Right now I have 8GBs of RAM and want to upgrade possibly int he future and was wondering if getting faster memory would be beneficial for me since I am OC'ing. Right now my memory is at 1866 with the latencies tweaked a bit higher.

I got 1600 because the CPU supported 1600 but now I am wondering if the memory speed is limiting here?

Any thoughts or suggestions? I have a profile setup to where I can take my CPU to 5.0 ghz as well but I keep it on 4.5 since it runs everything just fine.

Thanks for the help.

Memory speed has very little impact, at least until ddr4 speeds. High speed ddr4 ram seems to help in cpu bound scenarios (like an i3 in a cpu intensive games)

For your situation, it would be best to match your new ram to your current ram's timings and speed to avoid problems

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
