Windows 10 refuses to activate

First, the story:

I have a laptop with Legit (OEM I guess) Windows 8 loaded with tons of Sony bloatware.

Updated Windows 8, and upgraded to 10.

It worked, and I ended up with a fully activated Windows 10 Home.

Created Windows 10 USB with Microsoft's media creation tool, clean-installed Windows 10 Home after the previous upgrade from 8 to 10 of course.

Now, it says that it isn't activated, phone activation doesn't work and it says that I don't have a key or digital certificate, when I certainly upgraded before.

One weird thing, it says WINDOWS CORE EDITION, on slmgr /dlv, instead Windows Home.

Anyways it says Home in Control Panel.

I don't have any kind of watermark or intrusive message, desktop is fine.

Tried to activate with Windows 8 key, couldn't made it.

I need help ASAP please.

What to to.

It pisses me off, I get refuse by Microsoft with a legit W8 laptop, and my friend got genuine Windows 10 Pro in the first try upgrading from pirated Windows 7, wat.

Contact Microsoft again, Live chat is pretty fast.

Tell them you tried to do a clean install after upgrading but it now refuses the CD key.

Tell them you can provide the key if they need to validate it.

I just bought a windows 10 key from reddit.

When I reinstalled 10 after upgrading it refused to validate. And I can't just go back to Windows 7 either . So I functionally lost my windows 7 key.

Pretty sure you can use your windows 7 or 8 key to activate windows 7 or 8 even after upgrading to windows 10, your key probably was't legit and you where scammed, the only source you should buy a key is microsoft store or retailer aka in open't box at store etc.

You buy a key in text format from non oficial source then expect to be scammed g2p g2a reddit does't matter you always run into the risk.

Did you do clean install filling in key ? cos you can skip this part, also make sure if you use media creation tool to make an iso to select right edition of windows this actually matters or won't activate.

Media creation tool does't download iso with november update atm been pulled so using your windows 8 oem key won't work either, it would if it was november update probably.

Hope you still have sony windows 8 install disk or the recovery partition so you can try upgrade instead incase making a new iso won't do.

also if it did't update to november update thru windows update yet, and you get this update offered try this first and then activate using windows 8 key, the november update does allow it, the standard iso from media creation tool without november update won't accept it, they pulled november update from media creation tool.

I skipped the key part, because I upgraded to Windows 10 before clean installing.

I selected the right editon, Windows home.

The media creation tool downloaded both Pro and Home editions, and the installer would just ask me which one I wanted to install.

I will contact them.

My windows 7 key is from microsoft. Just fyi.
