Budget?

There is none, it is more of a how cheap can I get / see what is out there and decide from there.

how cheap? A chromebook. It's enough for school.

If you want a powerhouse, you're looking at a gaming notebook for at LEAST 1000$

Chromebooks don't meet the specs I outlined in the OP. So they are out of the question. Seems people on this forum never understand (not just you on this post) that some people just don't have budgets for every part/ thing. They buy what they need/want and if they don't have enough they wait till they do or they settle for less. In this case I need a laptop with the specs I outlined in the OP

 

why would you need and I7 with 16gb of ram for school?

I seriously have no idea but that is the minimum recommended specs for the laptop for the program I am going into and from talking to people I know in it this year they say it is worth it to have one with those specs. Well other than the ssd but that is just something that I have learned to love and hate computers without them for long term use
