Hey, so I have bought ny Pc a few years ago. I'm thinking of upgrading it, but I ain't sure if it rly is worth it doing it now. If I would upgrade I would want to have ddr4 ram. So i also have to upgrade my motherboard, cpu and ram at once. I would probably also buy a new better case. I stumbled apon this deal browsing for a short while. https://www.komplett.dk/product/823789/hardware/saml-selv-pakkelsninger/opgraderingspakker/opgraderingspakke-core-i7-5820k#

(I live in Denmark) it's a little over 800 euro.

I wouldn't need the air cooler in the bundle. So I compared this to a few other sites and it seemed pretty cheap. Am I right?

What do you guys think about this? Is it a good deal? Or maybe a little to overkill? Or would you rather wait?

(It would be for gaming)

My specs:

Case: Bitfenix Shinobi bf4 edition

Gpu: Mai gtx 970

Cpu: amd fx 8350

Cooler: noctua nh-d14

16 gb ddr3 ram

Psu: bequiet 600w

Samsung 250 gb ssd, 2 terabyte hdd

I believe it's complete overkill to go for an X99 platform for gaming over a Z97 or Z170 if you must have DDR4. Especially here in Denmark where we pay at least 25% taxes on top of the market price. I recently purchased a MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition and an i7-4790K and if we go by the same configuration on Komplett that set up would cost you 949DKR/136$ for the MOBO and 2699DKR/386$ for the CPU. You already have the RAM sorted out so it comes down to 3648DKR/522$ compared to the 5995DKR/859$. Performance wise there will be little difference and the cheaper option will not bottleneck your system. You would end up saving 2347DKR/336$ which you could either save for future upgrades or go for GTX 970 SLI if you save up a bit more.

I know you asked for DDR4, but with our taxes the need for carefully selecting price to performance parts becomes even more important, and I believe you would have minuscule gains on an X99 platform compared to Z97 for gaming when you take the price into consideration.

ok thanks a lot for the long and in depth answer, but I'm a little confused which taxes you mean?
